Notice on Registration for Graduate Research Students (Completed Coursework) – Fall Semester 2025

1. Graduate Research Students

A. Under Korea University's Graduate Research Student system, students who have completed all coursework (ABD/completed-course students) must pay the required registration fee to maintain their status as a Graduate Research Student.

B. The registration period for graduate research students is the same as that for enrolled students. After the regular/final registration period ends and payment is confirmed, the academic status will be changed in bulk to “Graduate Research (Enrolled)”.

Note: According to the decision of Korea University's Tuition Review Committee, the registration fees for graduate research students and thesis submission applicants for the 2025 academic year are as follows:

2. Graduate Research Registration Fee (7% of Tuition)

A. Eligible Students

• Students who have completed coursework (graduates without a degree)

• Students expected to complete coursework in August 2025

B. Registration Period

• August 21 (Thu) – August 28 (Thu), 2025, by 4:00 PM

• Strict adherence to the registration deadline is required.

C. Consequences of Non-Payment
Students who fail to pay the Graduate Research Registration Fee will not be able to access university services during the applicable academic year/semester, including:

• Blackboard (LMS)

• Library services

• Online courses such as the Human Rights and Gender Equality Education

Important for International Graduate Students
International students who have completed coursework must pay the Graduate Research Registration Fee during either the regular or final registration period to maintain their legal residence status in Korea.

3. Thesis Submission Registration Fee (12% of Tuition)

A. Eligible Students

• Graduate research students who have applied for thesis/dissertation evaluation

• Excludes currently enrolled students and permanently completed-course students

B. Payment Amount

C. Students Undergoing Thesis/Dissertation Evaluation
Students must register during the semester in which they undergo thesis/dissertation evaluation. The tuition bill reflecting the 12% thesis submission fee will only be generated after completing the online application.

4. Students Who Completed Coursework Before 2014 and Prepaid the Thesis Submission Registration Fee

A. During the Thesis Evaluation Semester

• Complete the online thesis/dissertation evaluation application.

• Students with a KRW 0 tuition bill must visit KEB Hana Bank (Korea University Branch or Hana Square Branch) with the tuition bill and complete the KRW 0 registration process.

• If a student fails the thesis/dissertation evaluation and applies for re-evaluation, the thesis submission registration fee must be paid again.

B. During a Semester Without Thesis Evaluation

• Students must pay the Graduate Research Registration Fee equivalent to 7% of the tuition for their academic division.
