Korea University, College of Health Science: Leading a Global Power in Biohealth and Healthcare
The College of Health Science at Korea University, established in 1963 as the first college of its kind in Korea, has dedicated over 60 years to cultivating global leaders in biohealth and healthcare, with the goal of advancing healthy lives for humanity. Notably, since transitioning to a research-oriented undergraduate system in 2014, we have spearheaded multidisciplinary and convergent education and research—ranging from medical science and engineering for disease diagnosis to environmental technology and health policy development for overcoming global risks.
To foster global talent in biohealth and healthcare, the College operates four schools: the School of Biomedical Engineering, the School of Biosystems & Biomedical Science, the School of Health & Environmental Convergence Science, and the School of Health Policy and Management.
The School of Biomedical Engineering is advancing future digital precision healthcare through the development of medical devices and big data technologies for disease diagnosis, treatment, and prediction. The School of Biosystems & Medical Science explores scientific and technological approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic development through research spanning molecular and cellular levels to population-level life phenomena. The School of Health & Environmental Convergence Science focuses on diagnosing and predicting risk factors arising from interactions between humans and the environment, as well as developing advanced technologies for treating related diseases. The School of Health Policy and Management works to improve health equity and promote public health through effective policy development, implementation, and efficient healthcare system management.
To lead global research in the biohealth and healthcare sectors, the Korea University College of Health Science continuously recruits world-class faculty. We are at the forefront of addressing the most pressing health challenges facing humanity, including the development of advanced diagnostic devices and disease therapeutics, responding to the climate crisis and international health issues, and reducing health inequalities.
Building on this strong research foundation, we currently host two major education and research centers under the Phase 4 Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Program: the “Precision Health Science Education & Research Group” in interdisciplinary science and technology, and the “Learning Health System Convergence Education & Research Center” in personalized healthcare. In addition, we operate a specialized graduate program in fine dust management. Furthermore, we operate a Specialized Graduate School for Fine Dust Management. Our robust research support infrastructure is anchored by three key institutes—the Global Health-Tech Institute, the Health Science Research Institute, and the Institute for Bio Materials—alongside our own Center for Healthcare & Science Equipment.
Based on the achievements of the past 60 years, the College of Health Science at Korea University is embarking on a new chapter for the next 60 years. In this era of scientific innovation driven by artificial intelligence and big data, we are committed to becoming a leading global force in biohealth and healthcare, with the shared goal of building a healthier world for all. We ask for your continued dedication and unwavering support in this endeavor.
